Map shows highlighted railroad routes between Shreveport and Texarkana across north central Texas, southern New Mexico, Arizona, and California to San Diego; American flag pinpoints locations along the route; roads, routes of military expeditions, military posts, Indian villages, mining activity, and notable physical features. Includes "Southern boundary of New Mexico by A.B. Gray U.S. Surveyor about 8 miles above El Paso." Relief shown by hachures. Scale [ca. 1:1,000,000].
